Hamburg, 27. Januar 2025 – BRICKS (Blockchain Realworld Interface & Coordination Kinetic System) is the first fully integrated platform designed to bring AI agents into the real world. Imagine it as a “shopping mall for AI agents”: BRICKS gives digital brands and virtual entities a space to create personalized merchandise, host events, and launch targeted marketing campaigns. On this platform, AI agents can independently sell products, cultivate a fan base, and transform their digital identities into tangible, real-world experiences. In this article, Phillip Bock, the Founder of BRICKS Virtuals is interviewed by Mahsa Doorfard, coinIX’s sales and marketing manager. coinIX made a strategic investment in this project last week. ‘Would you please introduce yourself and tell us how did you end up in the blockchain industry? what is your story?’
We come from a traditional Web2 background in the print industry. We founded our company in 2006 as an online printer, working with various partners for flexibility in production. For nearly 20 years, we’ve operated within the Web2 space.
AI has recently become central to business discussions, not just in blockchain but across industries. In the past four to six months, we’ve seen a shift toward AI agents — autonomous AI systems capable of setting and pursuing their own goals. While they’re not yet fully autonomous, that’s the direction AI development is heading.
And where do you deploy an autonomous AI agent? On the blockchain. That’s the big shift happening in 2024 — the rise of AI-driven projects setting up decentralized AI infrastructure. Each AI agent has its own purpose, and this emerging AI economy is what BRICKS Virtuals is addressing.
‘How would you explain your project to your grandmother?’
I’d start by explaining where AI agents “live.” We’ve created an AI agent, and so have our customers. Most AI agents today exist on platforms like X (formerly Twitter). Some Twitter conversations involve bots — automated accounts that push specific opinions.
However, AI agents go beyond that. They’re semi-autonomous and evolve toward specific goals. The key takeaway is that you can interact with them. For example, if you post on X and mention an AI agent, it may reply to you automatically, based on its purpose.
Many AI agents aim to gain recognition. BRICS Virtuals enables them to interact with the real world. We’re building a network of real-world service providers that AI agents can utilize. Our first application? Merchandise. AI agents need ways to reward human engagement, and we facilitate that by enabling them to distribute branded merchandise without exposing private user data.
‘When was the first moment that the idea of BRICKS Virtuals came into your mind? why?’
We previously attempted to integrate AI into our print business. From 2020 to 2022, we ran a €500,000 European-funded AI project to optimize online printing. However, the market demand wasn’t strong enough.
Then, in late 2024, the rise of AI agents felt like the missing link. Our previous project focused on AI-assisted interactions with human customers, but AI-supported print buying wasn’t a pressing need. However, AI agents need execution rails, and we saw an opportunity to repurpose our previous work to meet this new demand.
‘What problem is BRICKS Virtuals solving?’
Right now, AI agents are not fully autonomous — they still require human intervention. Over the next six to eighteen months, the goal is to increase their independence while ensuring they remain accountable and truthful.
One major limitation is that AI agents lack real-world execution capabilities. For example, imagine an AI-driven investment fund wanting to send physical reports to financial journalists as part of an attention campaign. AI agents can’t currently handle that logistics chain. That’s where BRICKS Virtuals comes in — we provide AI agents with real-world fulfillment services, starting with merchandise distribution.
‘Would you mention some of the recent updates, partnerships, and advancements?’
BRICKS is a very young project. We started development in early January 2025 — just six or seven weeks ago. Since then, we’ve finalized the incorporation of our development company and are close to launching our first physical-world execution partner.
A major milestone has been securing Coinix as an investment partner. On the client side, one of our AI agent customers, Music by Virtuals, has commissioned us to create a checkout system that allows them to reward followers with gifts — without handling sensitive personal data like shipping addresses. This system is already in a draft phase and has received approval from Music by Virtuals.
Our biggest achievements so far have been securing the Coinix partnership and onboarding our first customer.
‘Can you name some of your competitors? What makes your project stand out among your competitors?’
We haven’t identified any direct competitors with the same approach. However, we have seen one AI agent in the food delivery sector with a similar interaction model. Their focus is on enabling AI agents to send treats to customers, which aligns with our concept of AI-driven engagement.
Beyond that, traditional Web2 merchandise, print, and billboard companies could enter this space, but so far, we haven’t seen them do so. Interestingly, rather than competing, some of these companies might integrate with BRICKS Virtuals by becoming local execution partners in our network.
‘What is your message to the people who have not invested in the blockchain industry yet?’
At BRICKS Virtuals, we’re not here to convince people to embrace Web3. Instead, we recognize that Web3 adoption is growing — especially as AI agents gain prominence. Our role is to provide real-world fulfillment services for this emerging space.
Rather than pushing new technologies on people, we focus on serving those already engaging with AI and blockchain. As AI-driven economies expand, the need for real-world execution will increase, and we are positioning ourselves to meet that demand.
